Remove “Powered by Shopify”

The default footer line tells every visitor which platform you are on, and it makes a new store look like it was set up yesterday. Removing it properly means editing the translation entry rather than hacking it out of the theme, so it does not reappear after an update.

Quick fix · Under an hourSame working dayFooter

What’s included

  • Remove the attribution through the locale file, not a CSS hack
  • Check it is gone on every template and in every locale you use
  • Confirm it stays gone after a theme update

Not included

  • Footer redesign, which is its own task

Anything on the right is still something we do — it is simply a separate task, quoted separately, so this one keeps a fixed scope and a fixed price.

When it is done, you will have

  • 1The change live on your store, published only after you approve it
  • 2A clean diff you are welcome to read
  • 3A short written note covering what changed and why

Before we start, we will need

  • Collaborator access to your Shopify admin
  • A sentence or a screenshot describing what you want

Questions people ask first

Is removing it allowed?

Yes. Shopify includes it by default but does not require you to keep it, and editing the storefront locale is the supported way to change it.

Why not just hide it with CSS?

Because it is still in the page for anyone who looks, and it comes back the moment a stylesheet is regenerated. Removing the translation string removes it properly.
